Job Details:
  • High School/GED
  • The Medical Receptionist,known as Patient Service Representative with RWJPE, works with practice physicians and support staff to ensure patient friendly and efficient operations. Duties include the preparation of needed information for patient visits and follow-up needs. The Patient Service Representative is also expected to assist in other activities as needed.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Provides administrative support including, but not limited to, the following:

    Greets patients when they enter the clinic and gathers their information upon arrival by having them fill out forms and answers routine inquiriesPerforms basic clerical functions such as photocopying, scanning, fax, sorts and distributes mailRepresents the clinic in a professional manner in person, in telephone conversations, and in written correspondenceSchedules patients appointmentsEnters/verifies/updates Patient DemographicsCollects co-pays from patients at time of appointment check-inHandles pre-authorizations/certifications as necessaryAssists with correction of information required for claims resolutionRelays information to patients regarding preparation of diagnostic tests and examinationsMaintains forms and office supplies required for front desk activitiesAssist with filing and organization of informationRespects and maintains privacy and dignity of patients and assures patient confidentiality at all times

    Other related responsibilities:

    Prioritize and organize workloadMail processingAny other duties as assigned

    Education and Experience:

    High School Diploma or GED requiredMinimum of two years experience in a clerical role requiredAbility to work independentlyMinimum of two years experience in a medical office setting required

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Strong oral and written communication skills are essentialAttention to accuracy and detailDemonstrates a clear understanding of the importance of staff satisfactionKnowledge of medical terminology, preferredKnowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook is required
